В рамках Дней журнала «Фома» в Нижегородской духовной семинарии прошли встречи с деканом факультета международной журналистики МГИМО Ярославом Скворцовым и актером Борисом Корчевниковым. [34]

Ярослав Скворцов провел мастер-класс для членов редколлегии журнала «Дамаскин» и семинаристов, пишущих статьи. В ходе занятия он рассмотрел основные вопросы, связанные с изданием православных журналов и дал ряд практических рекомендаций. Ярослав Львович высоко оценил уровень журнала, выпускаемого Нижегородской духовной семинарией и предположил наилучшие пути его развития. Члены редакционного совета журнала и студенты задали ему ряд вопросов и попросили поделиться своим опытом участия в православном журнале «Фома». Закрывая встречу, декан факультета журналистики МГИМО отметил важность появления в отечественной журналистике православных авторов.

[35] Семинаристы также получили возможность пообщаться с актером и телеведущим Борисом Корчевниковым, который рассказывал о своей профессии. Борис высказал мнение, что актерская профессия как никакая другая приближает к Богу, поскольку связана с самоотречением. Говоря о своем журналистском опыте, он отметил, что профессия журналиста может обернуться цинизмом, и для того, чтобы не очерстветь душой, нужно знать некоторые правила.

«В журналистике важно любопытство. Чтобы ежедневно влезать в чужую жизнь, нужно много энергии, любви, здоровья. В противном случае может появиться цинизм и склонность к штампам, — сказал Борис. – Чтобы этого не произошло, очень важно быть искренним. Ведь каждый человек — как икона, и задача журналиста вглядеться в эту икону».

During the Days of the journal “Thomas” Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary organized meetings with Yaroslav Skvortsov, dean of the international journalism faculty of MSIIR, and an actor Boris Korchevnikov.

Yaroslav Skvortsov gave a master class for the members of the editorial board of the journal “Damascene” and the seminary students who write articles. During the activity he paid attention to the matters that concern the edition of Orthodox journals. He also gave some practical recommendations. Yaroslav Lvovich highly estimated the level of the journal published by Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary and suggested the best ways of its development. The staff of the editorial board and the students asked him a set of questions and asked him to share his own experience in the work for the Orthodox journal “Thomas”. At the conclusion of the meeting the dean of the international journalism faculty of MSIIR marked the importance of the present time when Orthodox authors appear in the native journalism.

The seminary students also had an opportunity to speak with an actor and TV presenter Boris Korchevnikov. He told the students about his job. Boris expressed the opinion that the profession of an actor approaches a person to God more than any other because it is connected with self-denial. Speaking about his journalist experience he noted that the profession of a journalist can turn into cynicism. And it is necessary to know some rules to avoid being hard-hearted.

“In journalism it’s important to have a sense of inquisitiveness. You need a lot of energy, love and health in order to get into other people’ lives every day. If it is not like that, cynicism and a tendency to stamps might appear, — said Boris. – It’s important to be sincere to avoid it. The fact is that every human being is like an icon and the objective of the journalist is to peer through this icon.”

[30] Преподаватель МДАиС А.И. Осипов, автор ставшего бестселлером учебника по основному богословию «Путь разума в поисках истины», прочитал лекцию в Нижегородской духовной семинарии. Попечением владыки-ректора, архиепископа Нижегородского и Арзамасского Георгия, это будет уже третий преподаватель Академии в стенах Нижегордских Духовных школ. На данный момент в семинарии периодически читают лекции профессор МДАиС Гаврюшин Н.К., преподаватель Истории русского богословия, и Конь Р.М., преподаватель Сектоведения. Семинаристам предоставляется редкая возможность лично пообщаться с одним из ведущих богословов РПЦ.

A. I. Osipov read a lecture at Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary.

A tutor of Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary A. I. Osipov gave a lecture at Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary. He is famous for his best-seller students’ book on Systematic Theology called “The way of intellect in the search of the truth”. Due to the care of rector Archbishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas George, this is the third tutor of the academy in the walls of the theological schools of Nizhny Novgorod. At the present moment there are other tutors who periodically read lectures at the seminary. They are Professor of MTA&S N.K.Gavryushin, tutor of History of Russian Theology, and R. M. Kon’, tutor of Studies of sects. The seminary students have a rare opportunity to personally communicate with one of the leading theologians of the Russian Orthodox Church.

[24] С октября 2008 года в Свято-Троицком Серафимо-Дивеевском женском монастыре действуют двухгодичные образовательные курсы для монахинь как структурное подразделение Нижегородской Духовной семинарии.
Цель данного духовно-образовательного учреждения дать насельницам женских обителей епархии основы богословских знаний и приобщить их к сокровищам святоотеческой мысли.
Учебный процесс длится с октября по март, занятия проводятся преподавателями семинарии в группах по 25 человек с 8.30 до 14.30 два раза в неделю. [26]
По специально составленными программам читаются курсы Катехизиса, Литургики, Библейской истории, Аскетики, Истории Русской Церкви, Общей церковной истории, Священного Писания Ветхого и Нового Завета, Догматического, Основного и Сравнительного богословия, Сектоведения и Патрологии.
В конце каждого курса необходимо сдать зачет. По завершении обучения выдается специальное свидетельство об окончании курсов.
Священноначалие епархии надеется, что полученное монахинями знания пригодятся им на различных послушаниях – в издательской и просветительской деятельности, в преподавании в воскресных школах, при проведении экскурсий для паломников.

At Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary the educational courses have been opened for the sisters of the Holy Trinity St Seraphim monastery in Diveevo.

The two-year educational courses are opened in October, 2008, in Diveevo the Holy Trinity St Seraphim monastery. The courses are established for the nuns of the monastery as a branch of Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary.

This educational program aims to give the sisters of women’s monasteries in Nizhny Novgorod diocese the fundamentals on theology and to get acquainted with the treasure of the holy fathers’ thought.

The studying process lasts from October to March. The lessons are conducted by the tutors of the seminary in groups consisting of 25 persons from 8:30 till 14:30 twice a week.

The lectures are read in accordance with specially developed syllabuses on Catechesis, Liturgics, Biblical History, Ascetics, History of the Russian Orthodox Church, General Church History, the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, Dogmatic, Systematic and Comparative Theology, Studies of sects and Patrology.

It is necessary to get a credit in every subject. A special certificate is given after finishing the courses.

The clergy leaders of the diocese hope that the acquired knowledge will help the nuns to go through different obedience labours, e.g. publishing activities, enlightenment, teaching at Sunday schools, and guided tours for pilgrims.

Commemoration day of St Sergius of Radonezh

The feast service dedicated to the commemoration of Reverend Sergius of Radonezh was celebrated in the seminary church.

Греческая делегация, состоящая из викария Афинской Архиепископии епископа Фермопильского Иоанна, сотрудника Отдела внешнецерковных связей Элладской Православной Церкви архимандрита Прокопия, протосингела Месогийской метрополии архимандрита Иерофея, архимандрита Поликарпа и протоиерея Григория Пигалова, находящаяся в Нижегородской области в паломнической поездке посетила семинарию. Цель поездки — перенесение частицы мощей преподобного Серафима Саровского в Грецию. Гости осмотрели здание семинарии, семинарский музей и семинарский храм, а также пообщались со студентами и преподавателями семинарии.[23][22]

Greek delegation visited Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary

A Greek delegation of church leaders taking part in a pilgrimage in Nizhny Novgorod region visited the seminary. Among them there were Right Reverend Ioannes, bishop of Thermopyle and assistant bishop of archdiocese of Athens, archimandrite Procopios, a clerk of the Department for External Church Relations of the Greek Orthodox Church, and archpriest Grigorios Pigalov. The aim of the visit is translating a particle of the relics of St Seraphim of Sarov to Greece. The guests saw the seminary building, the seminary museum and church. They also talked to the students and tutors.

С 25 по 29 сентября в Нижегородской Духовной Семинарии будут находиться с визитом представители РПЦ в Германии. Это о. Йоханнес из г. Майнц и госпожа Хейс, соиздатель журнала «Christian Bioethics».

О. Йоханнес прочтет семинаристам лекцию, посвященную проблемам западной и восточной иконописи. Госпожа Хайес познакомит студентов с основами Биоэтики, как науки. В программу визита включено также посещение различных церквей Нижнего Новгорода и Макарьевского монастыря. Гостям семинарии предстоит встреча со студентами — стипендиатами DAAD, которых они когда-то принимали в рамках этой программы у себя в Германии. [15]

September, 25 2008The friendship is going on …Representatives of ROC in Germany are visiting Nizhny Novgorod Seminary on September, 25—29. they are Fr Johannes from the city of Mainz and Mrs. Hays, a business partner for “Christian Bioethics” magazine.Fr Johannes is going to read a lecture on the problems of Western and Oriental icon painting for the seminary students. Mrs. Hays will introduce the fundamentals of bioethics as a science to the students. The agenda of the visit includes coming to different churches of Nizhny Novgorod and visiting Makarievsky monastery. The guest will meet the students, DAAD scholarship winners, whom they used to receive at their home in Germany within the plans of this students exchange program.

По благословению Святейшего Патриарха Московского и всея Руси Алексия 6—8 сентября 2008 г.состоялся VII Всероссийский фестиваль молодежи и студентов «Обретенное поколение».

В этом году среди лауретов премии оказалась и Нижегородская Духовная Семинария. Церемонию возглавили викарий Святейшего Патриарха архиепископ Истринский Арсений и председатель Синодального отдела по делам молодежи архиепископ Костромской и Галичский Александр. В преветсвенной речи архипастыри в частности отметили: «Нижегородская духовная семинария действует под омофором архиепископа Нижегородского и Арзамасского Георгия, который является ректором Семинарии. Журнал Нижегородской семинарии „Дамаскин“, отражающий актуальные вопросы церковного служения в молодежной среде, хорошо известен во всей Русской Православной Церкви. Студенты семинарии принимают активное участие в разнообразных проектах в области православного молодежного служения».

September, 12 2008The Found Generation.Under the blessing of His Holiness Alexy II the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia the VII-th All-Russian Festival of Youth and Students “The Found Generation” took place during September, 6—8, 2008.This year Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary has become a laureate of the festival scholarship. The award ceremony was headed by the archbishop Arseny, assistant bishop of the holy patriarch, and the chairperson of the Holy Synod Department for Youth Affairs Most Reverend Alexander, archbishop of Kostroma and Galich. In the welcoming speech the chief hierarchs mentioned in particular, “Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary works under the omoforion of the archbishop George, who is rector of the seminary. Reflecting the actual questions of the church activity among the youth, the seminary magazine “Damascene” is well known in all the Russian Orthodox Church. The seminary students take active part in different projects in the field of youth orthodox service.”

«День знаний» начался в семинарии с богослужения в семинарском храме в честь свт. Алексия, митрополита Московского. Архиепископ Нижегородский и Арзамасский Георгий в сослужении преподавателей и студентов совершил Божественную литургию. После чего Высокопреосвященнейший Георгий посетил семинарию и встретился с преподавателями, студентами и гостями семинарии. Он сердечно поздравил всех присутствующих с началом учебного года и пожелал успехов и помощи Божией. Студентам первого курса на память об этом дне Владыка подарил Священное Писание. Среди почетных гостей были также Тюхова Ольга Николаевна, директор Нижегородского епархиального женского училища и директор Нижегородского государственного медицинского колледжа — Надежда Андреевна Пигалова.

September, 1 2008The 1st of September is the beginning of a new school year in Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary.The Knowledge Day in the seminary began with the worship service in the seminary church of St Alexy the metropolitan of Moscow. Archbishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas George celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with the tutors and students. Then the Most Reverend George came to the seminary and met the tutors, the students and the guests of the seminary. He cordially congratulated all the present people on the beginning of the school year and he wished success and God’s help. For the memory of the day Vladyka gave Holy Scripture to the first-year students. Among the respectable guests there also were Tyukhova Olga Nikolaevna, the head of Nizhny Novgorod Diocesan Women’s College, and Nadezhda Andreevna Pigalova, the head of Nizhny Novgorod State Medical College.
